Bob Cange—Cange International, Inc.

Robert Cange is the President, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Cange International, Inc., a San Diego-based export management company formed in 1989 that provides international marketing and sales services to U.S. manufacturers of high-end consumer goods.  Cange International has sold products in more than 80 countries around the world and was formed to meet the needs of companies that seek to commence or expand their international sales.  Mr. Cange has been appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to serve on San Diego & Imperial District Export Council and has served in the past as the Treasurer of the organization.

Victor Castillo—Southwestern College CITD

Victor Castillo is the Director of the Southwestern College Small Business Development and International Trade Center (SBDITC), a joint program of the California’s Small Business Development Center and the Center for International Trade Development. Since 1988 he has been affiliated with Southwestern College and the SBDITC.  He oversees the operation of the SBDITC and the coordination of small business and international trade programs. Castillo has lead international trade missions and organized programs and trade shows for small businesses.

Hugh Constant—International Issues

From 1994 thru 2013 Hugh served as Vice President of the World Trade Center San Diego. Hugh has organized trade missions to more than 20 countries and provides trade counseling, workshops, match-making and referrals, trade leads and trade research services to companies, as well as hosting inbound trade delegations. Hugh has more than 30 years international business development experience in the U.K., Australia, Asia, South America and the Middle East.

Brennon Crist—Chase Bank, JP Morgan Chase

Brennon Crist is Market Manager of the middle market banking team in San Diego, and represents Chase in San Diego area civic and philanthropic activities. He leads a team of senior bankers, credit underwriters and service professionals in providing comprehensive financial solutions to companies with revenues between $20 million and $500 million. An active community participant, Brennon serves on the boards of directors of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, and is a member of the San Diego & Imperial District Export Council.

Luis Eternod—Pacific Aviation; ex-SDIDEC Chair

Over 30 years of successful business, sales, marketing, community affairs, public relations, customer service and transportation, airline operations experience.  Over 25 years in southern California with a focus in promoting international trade and transport between United States, Mexico and other international markets. Luis is a previous chairman of the San Diego & Imperial DEC. Luis has established a distinguished record in developing new products and services that resulted in market expansion in the San Diego and the Southern California markets.

Mike Faulkner—Nimbus Water International

Mike Faulkner is President of Nimbus Water International, Inc., located in Oceanside, California.  Nimbus serves as an export management firm for Nimbus Water Systems, a local manufacturer of Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Equipment.  Over the last 18 years Mike has traveled in over 40 countries promoting environmental technologies related to the purification of water.  He is also cofounder and President of International Environmental Technologies, LLC.  IET is an environmental products company with offices in the US, Hong Kong and China.  Under his leadership Nimbus Water Systems was awarded the Presidents E-Award for excellence in Exporting.

Wendy Gillespie is the President and CEO of Frontier Trading Inc., an exporter and distributor of products to Mexico and Latin America since 1986.  She is currently the president of the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on a board of directors for several organizations including the City of San Diego International Affairs Board and the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Mexico  Business Center. She is currently the president of the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce. Wendy was responsible for bringing the critically acclaimed musical “Allegiance” to the Old Globe.

Patricia Hall—Trade & Shipping Logistics Professional

Pat has over 30 years of experience in the logistics field, beginning her career with Flying Tiger Line in Los Angeles, and San Diego. Pat was employed by Burlington Northern as their International Manager for three years before accepting the newly created position of District Manager for Circle International, a top global freight forwarding company, in 1980.  Pat opened the first office for Fritz Companies, a leader in the global forwarding and brokerage field, in San Diego in 1992; and held the title of City Manager until 1999. Pat worked over a decade with UPS in Global Supply Chain Management.

Tim Kelley—Imperial Valley EDC

Timothy E. Kelley is the president and CEO of the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC).  He joined IVEDC in April of 2005. In his current position, he is responsible for the expansion of the region’s strategic economic development plan, as well as engaging initiatives that strengthen the regional economic vitality.  Tim serves as VP international trade and investment for TeamCalifornia, a statewide organization to promote international trade and investment in California; he serves on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Local Economic Development (CALED); he is a member of the Board of Directors of the World Trade Center San Diego; a member of the San Diego & Imperial District Export Council;  and a member of the Board of Directors of CleanTECH San Diego, as well as the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation.  Tim was instrumental in the establishment of the Cali Baja Bi-National Mega-Region, an economic development initiative developed to showcase the abundance of assets and business opportunities in Imperial Valley, San Diego and Baja California, Mexico.  Tim is also active in many civic community based organizations in Imperial Valley.

Michael Pearlman—InterOcean Systems; ex-SDIDEC Chair

Presently Mr. Pearlman is president and CEO of InterOcean Systems Inc., a local San Diego firm that started in the 1950s and is one of the predominate manufacturers of marine equipment and oceanographic instruments used world wide in the studies of the oceans with particular interest in ocean circulation, global warming, tsunami warning and pollution. InterOcean has supplied instruments to customers in 46 countries and exports account for about 50% of its sales volume. Mr. Pearlman served in various capacities in the San Diego & Imperial DEC including Chairman and has been an active member of the DEC since 1992.

Bill Plourd—El Toro Export LLC

William R. “Bill” Plourd is the President and C.E.O. of El Toro Export, LLC, a diversified agricultural commodity trading company headquartered in California’s Imperial Valley.  Bill’s 33 years of experience includes the production, trading, processing, and transportation of Grains, Seeds, Animal Feeds and Beef commodities.  Today El Toro Export, LLC and their 130 employees are proud to be the regional market leaders serving domestic and export markets from their four handling facilities.

Monique Rodriguez—Qualcomm Inc.

Monique Rodriguez is Director of Government Affairs for QUALCOMM Incorporated.  In this capacity she manages part of QUALCOMM’s international public policy agenda on a range issues, including international trade, technology policy, competition and innovation, and intellectual property. In addition to maintaining and strengthening QUALCOMM’s relationships with branches of the United States and foreign governments, she often represents the company before industry associations and multilateral institutions, such as the United Nations and World Trade Organization (WTO). She serves as the chair and board member of the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Hispanic Scholarship Council.  The Council works in conjunction with UCSD to raise scholarship funds for students to attend UCSD at the undergraduate level. Ms. Rodriguez serves as a member of the San Diego & Imperial District Export Council.  She also serves on the board of the San Diego World Trade Center and the UCSD Undergraduate Scholarship board.

Dr. Camille Schuster—Cal State San Marcos

Dr. Camille Schuster is President of Global Collaborations, Inc., a Professor of Marketing at California State University San Marcos, and has been a faculty member at Xavier University, Virginia Tech, Arizona Sate University, and Thunderbird.  She has published five print books, two eBooks, and numerous articles in academic journals on international business practices.  She has worked with more than 50 companies in more than 20 countries.  Widely recognized in the international community, Camille is a frequent speaker/consultant to the business community. She had conducted training programs, presented lectures, and consulted with companies in Europe, Australia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.

Michael Slater—Business Consultant (Formerly NIK Software, purchased by Google)

Michael Slater was President & CEO of Nik Software, Inc, which was acquired by Google Inc.. Since 1999, Mr. Slater led the growth of Nik Software from a two-person software developer to a software research and development company that has become a recognized leader in developing software products and technologies for digital photography.  The company had three offices in the U.S. and Europe.  Mr. Slater’s role in Nik Software focused on top-level business strategy, intellectual property and patent development, as well as management of the company’s expansion in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Mr. Slater worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce as an International Trade Specialist, specializing in technology products, where he consulted with a local client base of San Diego companies on a wide range of topics ranging from market entry and distribution strategies to joint venture and overseas business growth strategies. Mr. Slater served as the Vice Chairman of the San Diego & Imperial District Export Council.

Cassie Stiles—Export Finance Professional; ex-SDIDEC Chair

Until her retirement, Cassandra “Cassie” Stiles was a first vice president with Comerica Bank. She was responsible for the bank’s international trade finance business in the San Diego and Phoenix areas. A veteran of international banking, Stiles was a senior vice president with Imperial Bank until Comerica acquired the bank in 2001. Prior to joining Imperial Bank, she was a vice president with Standard Chartered Bank in San Diego, where she coordinated the bank’s international trade activities as part of its alliance with First Interstate Bank. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, she was a vice president with First Interstate Bank. Stiles is a former Chair of both the San Diego & Imperial DEC and the Export Finance Board of the California Export Finance Office (CEFO).

Allen Vigil is the Director of International Business Development at Grupo Logistics, a logistics provider specializing in the designing of logistics solutions, customs brokerage, Mexico warehousing, merchandise distribution throughout Mexico.  Mr. Vigil has over 20 years experience in international commerce worldwide with Fortune 500 companies, with management positions ranging from product sourcing, buying, marketing, market research, supply chain / logistics, import law, pricing, real estate site selection, production scheduling, inventory control and finance.  His civic responsibilities include being a member of the San Diego & Imperial District Export Council, the Mexico Business Center of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the World Trade Center San Diego.
